Thoughts on Resisting Evil

From some creek in southern Appalachia

Join me at some creek in southern Appalachia as I contemplate personal responses to evil. (Both the societal/global kind of evil and the personal, quotidian kind—which we might aptly refer to as dumbassery.)

This spot is one of my favorite local places to go for a bit of afternoon contemplation. I thought the water sounds might make nice ambiance for the video. Let me know if you like it or not. Also, I used a tree branch to hold my phone for the making of this video—nature’s selfie stick!

I have decided to produce more video content for this Substack. I don’t feel that I’m very good at it yet—speaking extemporaneously on camera has an appeal as a big time saver for content creation, but alas, it does not come as easily to me as writing out my thoughts. My hope is that with time and practice I’ll improve, and that you’ll bear with me through the learning process.

I’m not abandoning written posts, of course. I have a really nice essay on the antidote to nihilism coming up in the next few days, which I think you’ll enjoy a lot. I just recognize that it takes me a lot longer to complete an article than what the pace of content creation seems to demand, and in order to stay consistent with this endeavor I need to supplement some video for the quicker production time.

Thanks for watching/listening!

Love,
Starr
