“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.” -Robert J Hanlon

This is the thing you should understand about the federal government- they’re all just people like you and me, except they couldn’t hack it in the private sector, so they went to work for Uncle Sam and their IQs and competence are on the left side of the bell curve.

Thanks for the update. Here in the South Carolina part of the hurricane area we are still without internet and my neighbors do not have power. Some of my neighbors houses are a total loss. We drove through Augusta, Ga. today and saw several totally smashed houses. I volunteer at a local pregnancy care center. We got loads of donations. We sent some to y’all in N. C. Praying for everyone.

Thanks for the update. I’m heading up tomorrow to help a friend near Burnsville. He barely escaped with his life. Stay strong up there.

Thanks for the update which presents the real picture. I have been through your lovely area several times although I reside in Michigan. It is difficult to imagine what has happened. All the best.

"A group of healing practitioners had a pop-up massage and acupuncture tent going outside a food co-op."

As an acupuncturist, hearing this made me happy.

More generally, I am happy to hear about people helping people! Thank you for this and your other posts. :)

I appreciate what you posted. We are in upstate SC, without power for 10 days, damage to our property, etc. We took a truckload of commodities up to the Lake Lure area. So many people lost everything they owned, some lost loved ones that may never be found. To see NC in such dire state is heartbreaking. We know Western NC well, people dismisses this catastrophic event as something as old news, but it's not, and it won't be for a very long time. Properties have already been seized, and that loan you mentioned, if not paid back, the government will seize your land. We are not uneducated redneck hillbillies down here. That statement just proves a person's ignorance. Remember history books were written by the winning side, and to continue to berate other Americans in time of need, shows these people have no empathy for the human race.
