“I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!”
Luke 12:49
When the kindling Christ
who left his sandal prints
on the shores of my heart
and stepped out onto the water
of my soul,
fished up from the depths
an ancient coal
—kept sheltered
in a little fortress, enshrouded
by a willful little cloud—
He drew in His holy breath
and blew.
And down rained heavenfire,
devouring flames of love,
to set alight each stick
and twig of this
fool-built fortress.
I have been kindled, Lord,
the blaze in you
has seen the spark in me.
The fire is catching,
catching on,
the sad little ember
begins to burn bright.
Let it catch, let it burn,
let all falseness blister
in the firelight of Truth
as I join your mighty conflagration,
charring the earth
and catching all hearts
up in the devouring flames of love.
Beautiful, thank you for writing it and sharing. 🙏🏽
