In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
John 14:2-3
Your dwelling place is in the heart—in my heart—let me remember that. And as you go to prepare a place for me, it is my life’s work to prepare this inner place for you. I wish it be comfortable, abundant, pleasantly sweet, peaceful, and spacious for you. Help me to fill it with good furnishings: wise thoughts, kind feelings, clear views.
Let there be joy and music and laughter in the place I prepare for you. Let it be founded on good purpose and roofed with fulfillment. Let its adornments be lovely and unpretentious, its kitchen stocked with good ingredients, its gardens wonderful and wild.
Let there be no elements of folly in this dwelling place of my heart. Let its walls not be weakened by striving for the impermanent, but stand strong in assent to the eternal. Let all the treasure of this house be treasure of the spirit, and let earthly treasure come and go according to your will.
And let me not cling to this treasure, neither the earthly nor the spiritual. Because the earthly is not ultimately mine, and the spiritual is ultimately limitless. I am therefore free to overflow with generosity in both senses.
Thank you. I love you. Amen.
Thank you for praying with me. Interiorly and exteriorly, it helps more than you know.
