In honor of Election Day—the highest of holy days for United States citizens—I had the distinct pleasure of sitting down for a chat with Domenic C. Scarcella. Domenic is a fellow Substacker and Christian anarchist/voluntaryist, and authored the book Good Neighbor, Bad Citizen: Reflections on the Core Social Conflict Revealed by Jesus Christ’s Way of the Cross.
We talk about how neighborliness and citizenship require separate mindsets that aren’t inherently compatible and often come into conflict with each other, causing much confusion as folks try their best to serve two masters. We explore this topic from several angles, and then Domenic lays out a Christian case for not voting.
I hope y’all enjoy this conversation as much as I did. Let me know your thoughts.
You can follow Domenic’s work, including his Wednesday Wakeup and the very fun Sunday Buffet, on his Substack.
The book is available in both print and ebook versions on Amazon.
If you feel so inspired, you can support my work—and give me more time to accomplish it—by becoming a paid subscriber to this Substack for $5/month or making a one-time contribution through the Buy Me a Coffee link below.
